The SV system was bound to work against Reform UK because anti Reform UK voters will have made sure their 2nd choice was not for them. The low turn out of 25% proves there isn't much appetite for elected Mayors and devolution in England. It's scandalous that Burnham plans to give elected Mayors some of income tax revenue raised in their area for them to waste. Fortunately major changes like what Burnham wants to implement take time and money. Even if he lasts the 3 years he doesn't have the time or the money. Yeah, Cubed explained that because of increased enforcement by the the French Police and difficulties the gangs are having in obtaining boats and engines, they aren't able to make as many attempts. The increased efforts of the French Police are a consequence of the deal the UK Government signed with France in the Spring of this year. The interruptions in the gangs' supply chains are a result of the deal that the UK Government signed with China in January. But ruby won't accept that anything the UK Government is doing is having any effect. And ruby keeps exaggerating the situation claiming "record numbers" are arriving, when the numbers are clearly way down on the record. ruby does not want to acknowledge the numbers are way down because ruby wants the numbers to be high so that he can justify his permanent whining about them. ruby would rather make obvious bullshit claims about the numbers being at record levels than admit that they are being slowly brought under control. That's ok then, when BP leave the UK and move to the US, we no longer will receive the tax they pay, we can celebrate. They can declare their ill gained profits somewhere else and pay their tax there. Of course you as an individual will be making up the tax difference because the country needs that money to survive. I have ay least one thing and the very first thing he should he could have done. Forgive me if I moan. He could have met the boat we saw loaded with illegals on the French coast and turned it around. And if the HMS Dragin' is seaworthy by know, promise that your boat shall escort the boat from whence it came. But before doing so, take in custody the ringleaders to make an example of those to do the dirty work of others. You know, like you imprisoned the mother for suggesting the illegal cesspools should be burned to the ground. However, blaming Andy is futile. He's just doing what he's told to do. Undocumented migrants continue to depart from the northern coast of France to reach the United Kingdom via small boats across the English Channel, a route that has seen over 200,000 successful crossings since 2018. Despite major multi-million dollar agreements between London and Paris to stop the crossings, the crisis remains a highly volatile, active political and humanitarian issue. BP profits aren't obscene they are profits, next year they could have a drilling rig explode and lose a fortune. It is called business, you wouldn't understand that you have never worked for a company that has to make profit. My old company made a fortune in the 1980s, last couple of years it has lost billions. VW did the same, unfortunately for a 100,000 workers in Germany they won't have a job next year. They are probably wishing their company made ad obscene profit. The German Government probably feels the same as it struggles with the loss of building tax and tax from those 100,000 people. Sadly life is not a magic money tree. It doesn't matter about the illegals dropping by 40% as someone said with a water leak, would you accept if a plumber said "I fixed it, it is only a drip" it will still flood just take longer. What a facile and quite frankly stupid analogy. Water is an inanimate object with no agency in the plumbing process. The plumber simply uses natural and physical laws to control the water. The water will simply obey the laws. It won't start running uphill. It won't start trying to deceive the plumber, or waiting for the plumber to leave before making it's move. A more appropriate analogy would be to compare the attempts to stem the migrants to the work of the software engineers at a car manufacturer. The engineers are trying to make the cars less likely to break down or be involved in accidents. You wouldn't say that if the engineers reduced breakdowns by 40%, it was insignificant. I'm sure that the cars you worked on broke down. By your analogy, that makes you a failure.

He states his opinion that Burnham should have done something, but when asked what, he says to look it up on Google. He isn't prepared to state his opinion of what Burnham should have done, but expects others to find his opinion on Google. It's clear that he hasn't a clue what he thinks Burnham might have done, but wants to criticise him for not doing it. He's a total fool and way out of his depth on this forum. What I find utterly confusing is his obvious support for BP, whilst having suggested that Burnham should have done something about "... the energy situation and BP." 5 hours ago, ruby said: BP profits aren't obscene they are profits, ... It is called business, you wouldn't understand that you have never worked for a company that has to make profit. I assumed he was of the opinion that Burnham ought to have done something to bring down energy prices and curb the profits of companies such as BP, or at least raise the amount of tax BP pays. But no, it seems ruby believes the complete opposite, that the threat of increasing the amount of taxes that BP pays is what has caused the company to put its North Sea Oil business up for sale. 2 hours ago, ruby said: BP is lost, Labour with its insane policy on drilling and tax has killed the golden goose that subsides taxes, However, BP claims the decision is based on the unprofitability of continuing to drill for oil in the North Sea. Pumping for our own oil is not economically sound. But who am I to argue? Luke 12:33 makes more sense to me than does the love of money.
