Once again Trump goes against just about everyone. Rowlf will argue that he's just telling it like it is. I'm thinking he's either repaying a favor somewhere or distracting us from the heat of the Russian investigation. Maybe both lead to each other, who knows. This guy is too much.

Surely it's not surprising that he has declared Jerusalem the capital of Israel. After all he made Moscow the capital of America.

On a more serious note he seemed to be slurring some of his words towards the end of the speech.

He's actually implementing a bipartisan policy endorsed by the senate but waivered by Obama and Bush. As he said in his speech it has been waivered by several presidents over the last 20 years in the hope of persuading the Palestinians to agree a settlement....without any success. So the waivering obviously didn't work. However why let facts muddy the waters when there's a chance to have a dig at Trump

Well, thank you very much. That is the way it is. It was approved in Congress by an overwhelming majority in 1995. They all promised to make Jerusalem the capital of Israel, but reneged after being elected. Trump kept his word. Many of you guys out there ought to stretch the elastic band at your waist to inventory your equipment. Because if you're anything like your leaders, you may lost them at the last bump in the road.

Wait a second... 1995.  A lot of water passed under the bridge since 1995. Of course that's where Trump's head is still at... those Halcyon days when you could grab a woman by the pussy without repercussion. Come on. What a joke.

Sorry to disappoint all you detractors but that man has just shown a wide streak of guts but an even wider streak of intelligence and common sense.

Who is delighted by this announcement? Israel! Who is the only stable country in the middle east? Israel! Who has a permanent standing army and is not afraid to use it - against anyone? Israel! Who have nuclear capabilities? Israel! Who listens to no one when being criticised about their policies? Israel! Who has been a long term friend of America? Israel!

Now ask yourselves your stupid questions again.

How about June 2017? Why not try facts instead of bloviating?

Liberals continuously complain about  the lying, cheating, conniving gov, but do everything in their power to vote for big gov.

What we are finding out, is that they don't want leaders telling the truth..............unless it's their version of the truth.

Donald Trump stated during the election campaign America would recognise West Jerusalem as capital of Israel if he became President. Congress and Federal Judges might prevent President Trump carrying out some of his election pledges, but not the Jerusalem pledge. President Trump shouldn't be criticised for carrying out an election pledge. The Czech Republic also now recognizes West Jerusalem as capital of Israel and the list will only get bigger.

What about the provision added to the law that you reference?  Specifically - The same resolution that passed the Senate 90-0 also included this provision: The Senate "reaffirms that it is the longstanding, bipartisan policy of the United States government that the permanent status of Jerusalem remains a matter to be decided between the parties through final status negotiations towards a two-state solution."

Augie, you mention West Jerusalem. As you well know the contentious bit is East Jerusalem.

And of course nothing like sparking some Middle East turmoil to distract us all from the Russian investigation. 2 birds, one stone.

Yes, I mention West Jerusalem because the American embassy is going to be built in West Jerusalem. There is some land set aside in Western Jerusalem for the American embassy to be built on. I guess it would be contentious, if President Trump planned to build the new embassy in East Jerusalem.

All the rhetoric though doesn't specify West Jerusalem though, does it? In fact everything I read has Trump talking about Jerusalem.

Yes, quoting the opinionated conjecture of a lively yet thoroughly biased left wing blog collective is hardly the knock out blow you hoped would sweep us from the ring

You clearly didn't understand his speech so to help you here is Nikki Haley, US ambassador to the UN, explaining that the decision to move the embassy to Jerusalem is purely a decision made by the US. The actual sratus of the city can only be decided by the two parties themselves, Israel and the PLA'

Oh I didn't realise we were debating. I thought we were just taking the piss out of each others sources of information, which is what you seem to have started. My mistake.   What was your point again?

Yes, it's all just rhetoric. The American consulate is in West Jerusalem, but the address most likely just says Jerusalem, just to keep the Israelis happy.  The Russians have just joined the party and are now recognizing West Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and don't appear to be acknowledging the Israel annexation of Jerusalem, but do acknowledge their own annexation of Crimea. All a bit confusing, although not as confusing as when New Zealand was unannexed from Australia and became the 30th State of America, which I guess means New Zealanders having difficulties in Jerusalem, will soon be welcome in the new American embassy, thanks to President Trump.

Looks like in the great power games of the Middle East Palestine is once again the sacrificial lamb.  I'd like a source regarding the unannexing of NZ from Australia to become the 30th state of America. It's well known we told the yanks to take their nukes and shove em where the sun don't shine. We remain of that opinion.

It all happened during the NZ gold rush long before nukes were invented. You must have heard about it, I think it was my grandma who told me about it.

Perhaps my Grandma was a little confused after too many snowballs. She once told me there were palm trees in Scotland.  Just done a little research and found an interesting read ...........

I think by the logic of the article we might also have been Chinese.  At this stage China are certainly winning on that front, practically owning 50% of NZ real estate.  At least I can buy cheap chainsaws though, so all's well that ends well.

Interesting logic, the Chinese might have also discovered America. Mind how you go, if you have bought a cheap Chinese chainsaw.  A faulty cheap Chinese chainsaw could end very badly.

I read that. However it's not unheard of for folks to re write history. It happens in these forums all the time.  I mention the chainsaw because I find trees spoil otherwise interesting photographic shots and thus I like to remove them from the frame.

I earn a crust from re-writing history. I guess you're not a member of the tree photographic conservation society, but you still need good quality tools to do the job correctly, without hurting oneself.
