Exposing sexual abuse in the US

66 posts in this topic

For the last several weeks over here in the US, the outing of workplace sexual abuse has been prolific. In areas of entertainment, business, politics. Who knows where it will stop?

Usually it's a matter of time for such events to cross the pond.

The whole damn situation is getting way out of hand here. The better question is WHO DID NOT commit these transgressions!

This seems to be the case. And how are these 'transgressions' defined. Or are they defined?

It’s the ones that pipe up, only once someone is brown bread , that doesn’t make sense? 🤔

It doesn't seem to have spread north of the border but I've no doubt it will. Just watching the news and seeing this topic make headlines in the USA and the UK tends to make me think the world is descending into chaos. Have these accusers nothing better to do? Half of them are supposed to be running their respective countries. In the case of the Brit guy, well who can honestly say they have never looked at porn on their PC?

I say "Grow up, the lot of you and do the job you are paid to do".

Perhaps it will stop, Rowlf when certain men stop thinking they can just grab someone by the pussy.

Perhaps one day the situation will be reversed and women will wield the power in the world. Then maybe you will be able to explain why being the tenth knuckle-head woman that day to tell you how small your penis looks just isn’t funny any more.

Makes perfect sense. Try understand the power dynamic at play in most, if not all situations of sexual harassment.
What an odd world when failing to condone rapists, molestors, sexual predators, and simply f*ckwits that like harassing people without consent makes one part of the "PC Brigade".

Well, funny you should say... I think there would be plenty of members of my tribe that could tell you a story about the grubby little hands of men. In my case I'm reasonably adept at sticking one of my athletic limbs up their arse should they try it.

That I would like to see as I think that due to the tightness of your frock I believe you would find it physically impossible to get your foot high enough.

No doubt you can explain how this could be achieved.

About time too!

5a281c5b90259_Timecover.thumb.jpg.b0db12

Time magazine has named "the Silence Breakers" - women who spoke out against sexual abuse and harassment - as its "Person of the Year".

"The women and men who have broken their silence span all races, all income classes, all occupations and virtually all corners of the globe."
“collectively they have helped turn shame into outrage and fear into fury, put thousands of people on to the streets demanding change, and seen a slew of powerful men held accountable for their behaviour.”

But the jurassic fossils of the OTF remain.

I do hope you include yourself amongst the jurassic fossils, Helen, Melen Melmoth or whatever name you use.

And I suppose all these whistleblowers will have 'trousered' (your word) the proceeds for being such good upstanding citizens. (Who the Jiminy are they, anyway?)

I think it's fantastic that women are becoming to come out and accuse men for taking advantage of them. So many women have submitted to sexual abuse because it may have been considered the 'norm', or that their jobs may be at risk if they don't.

I can see where a woman is so indignant that she refuses to go along when this scenario. But I can also understand when another women wants something so badly that they will endure anything to achieve it.

After saying all this, there may have been a few times in history when a woman has used her feminine wiles to achieve her goals. How do we know the reality of it?

No woman considered it the norm Rowlf. For goodness sake. Where do you come up with these ideas?  Indignant? That's a funny way to describe a woman's feelings about being raped. Or groped.

In your case I doubt you'll ever get the reality of it, or anything for that matter, because you live in cloud cuckoo land.

Just when did you leave your sensibilities behind? The 'it' I was referring to was the current society, and how these things were perceived. I realize I would have to spoon feed helen or that rascal ol'69'er, but you? I've always thought you were a little too cosmopolitan. And I'm very seldom wrong. Oh well.........

There's a huge gray area between the wolf whistle on the street and the act of rape.

Political correctness is turning us into space cadets.

And so now you defend wolf whistles. I get it, men should be able to leer at women. Men should be able to vocalize their sexual approval of them.  How could a woman possibly not want a man's sexual approval?  Really when you think about it a man should be able to take his erect penis out and show it to a woman as a sign of his approval for her as well.  How dare she resist this too, right? Women after all are mere chattel aren't they?  Thanks for helping me see this Rowlfie.

Don't be naive Trinity. Do you think that ladies don't talk about men the same way? You really should get out more - with a bunch of real ladies - and listen to their conversation.

Hmm.... what if the man unsheathed a flaccid penis. Would this be an acceptable 'sign of approval'? Evidently. Or else why describe the condition of the penis?

In making an attempt to nullify my comments, you're showing you really don't know what the hell you are talking about. You have no opinions other than the ones filtered through political correctness.

Why do you walk the streets in clothing wore to attract attention? I gotsta know!

Oh yes of course. Rape statistics show that women are as equally represented as men. Same for all these Weinstein type cases... women executives everywhere doing the same stuff.  Hell just yesterday I walked downtown and was wolf whistled at and had my ass groped by several dozen women.  All of this happened on the same cloud cuckoo land planet that Rowlf and you live on.

No! Now come on. That is a perfectly serious question you are being asked. I would be interested to hear your answer to that. Why?

Attracting attention. Interesting phrase.  Couldn't you say clothing that looks good, is fashionable, well tailored, aesthetically pleasing?

I was once told by a male boss that it would be cheaper and easier to get me killed than fight a sexual harassment/discrimination case.

Just to be clear , I never made a complaint, but a male client suggested to my boss he was out of order and that is the response he gave the client, in front of me.

You are way off on a tangent. I cannot ascertain any rhyme nor reason to much of this thread. The interaction between male and females varies greatly between the situation, the environment, the setting, the application, even the individual psyche of the individual. There are vast parameters available in the interaction of the sexes. I'm sorry, but you show tremendous ignorance on this subject.

Nope, I believe he was deadly serious.

There was no physical 'abuse' I would not have allowed that, but working in a mainly male environment I had to endure a lot of verbal comments of varying levels, again I mostly ignored or learnt to 'banter'.

And had to be better at my job than male counterparts.
